Octopus Power-ups are now available to North East England customers too (certain times where you get as much free electricity as you like).

This scheme is also already available if you are from South East and East England and Scotland,

Now launching in North East England
After first launching in South East and East England, then Scotland, weโ€™re now offering Power-ups in North East England. Power-ups is now available in this region because weโ€™ve launched a joint project with the local network operator. Check Power-ups are in your postcode.

Weโ€™re working with Northern Powergrid on this cutting-edge flexibility service to help balance their local networks. The programme funds free electricity for key areas where thereโ€™s regularly extra green electrons going to waste.

  • Power-ups are usually an hour or two long, at times when wind and solar make up a high percentage of the electricity mix (often in the middle of the day).
  • Weโ€™ll email you with as much notice as possible before a Power-up (usually the day before). You need to opt in to each one to let us know you want to join.
  • When itโ€™s time to Power up,ย use as much electricity as you likeย and itโ€™ll all be freeย โ€“ย itโ€™s a perfect time to do the hoovering, run your heat pump or immersion heater, run the dishwasher or washing machine, make dinner, you name it.
